Did India just arrive?

We arrived at the world stage, when

Vajpayee ji blasted the bomb,

Manmohan ji signed the nuclear deal with much aplomb,

Modi ji made America all agog,

I wonder, if this arrival is worth our focus,

For it sounds all bogus,

We arrive once, twice, thrice

But we never realize,

Why do we want to arrive?

Is it for the rich man’s ego or pride?

Mangalyaan reaches Mangal,

But the poor man dies on way to Coramandal,

The train slips and falls into a gorge,

Yet we want to photograph only the surface of Mangal,

Did we just arrive?

 

Tata buys Corus,

We all say, we have conquered the erstwhile masters,

Yet Mr. Satyarthi shouts another child is slaving in the 

factory day in and out.

Did Barkha just shout “India has Arrived"

 

We reminded Obama, we actually arrived,

When the world heard Swami Vivekananda address the

Parliament of World’s Religion with such delight,

Yet for breakfast, lunch and dinner Mulayam ji rakes up 

Hindu Muslim fist fights,

Did Arnab just ask the nation, who is the Winner of this fight?

The Left or The Right,

Hindu or the Islamite,

Who minds, for Modi ji declared we have no communal divide,

I for one, don’t want to arrive,

If this is the idea of India, we hold so dearly in sight.
